Why is my pull cord not working?
Lighting pull cords can get damaged due to wear and tear. Also, a burnt-out connection or a broken internal rocker or springs can stop the cord switch from working. The solution is generally to replace it, generally, when taken apart, the loose bits fall out.

Alan from Westcork Electrical provided first-class service when replacing my halogen lights with LED's and updating my external power board to compliance certificate requirements. He turned up exactly as arranged (with text message updates en-route), was very compliant to my particular requests, worked safely and efficiently despite difficult access, and quite obviously knowns exactly what he is doing. Very polite, courteous and efficient, he is an excellent electrician in whom one can have complete confidence. While he was working, I threw away all the fridge magnets advertising other electricians because he's the only one you will ever need.

Alan was a pleasure to deal with, not only personally but professionally. The process was seamless, from online quotes, booking a time, confirmation via email and text with an alert that he was on his way (I could track him!) to the invoice arriving just after the job was completed.There was a problem with one fan (not his fault) and he came back to check it before it was replaced by the manufacturer under warranty, something he wasn’t required to do. Alan truly deserves all the good comments. He is professional, genuine and explains the issues in details. He is a kind man willing to offer help in any way he could. He came in for a job on our stairwell pendant light, but also helped check our bathroom heat lamp and advised us on a quick way to fix it when we discovered an issue lately. He was even so thoughtful to have put on a pair of outer shoe-wear to keep our floor clean (saving me the hassle to wipe the floor on a rainy day). We had Alan and Westcork Electrical come in to fix some dodgy light fittings and extraction fans. The solutions provided were great and the work was carried out promptly. I'm still somewhat shocked about how easy the whole process was; the arrival tracker showing how far away he was mind-blowing - the level of professionalism was just something else.I'd happily recommend Westcork for any electrical needs. It's not often when a tradesperson not only exceeds your expectations but completely blows them out of the water. Our fusebox had a fault. So I sent a photo of our fuses to show what we have & in return, I received an explainer video about what all our switches did, where it fell short and three quoted options fro just fixing the one switch through to upgrading the whole thing. We did the entire job and added surge protection. It was done on time, neatly and quickly & affordably. Such a nice bloke too, good-humoured and courteous. We were now going ahead on some lighting in our kitchen.

Alan is simply awesome. We had a bunch of jobs to do around the house after moving in (loose and unsafe wiring, ceiling fan installation, outdoor socket installation, light fittings etc). Prior to doing any work Alan came around and performed a very thorough quote giving us ideas as to how we could solve some of our issues. It took me a couple of months to get my act together and get Alan back to perform the works which he did with great care. He performed all works himself, took time to do a thorough job and cleaned up afterward.
