Ceiling fans installed - Summer Hill Flour Mills

We’ve done a stack of work at the Summer Hill Flour Mill over the years, so we know this building inside out. Every time a new fan or lighting job comes up here, we’re already a step ahead, we’ve seen the ceiling spaces, we know the switchboard setups, we know what to expect.

This one was no different, except it was in one of the original heritage silos.

The client wanted two DC ceiling fans installed — and one of the rooms was partially inside the old silo structure. That meant we weren’t dealing with a standard square room. Everything was curved, so we had to be extra careful with the fan placement to line up with what was already there — sprinklers, downlights, speakers.

We fished the cables in without damage and managed to get both fans wired back to the wall switches — which isn’t always possible in these buildings. Sometimes we have to use Bluetooth remote modules, but this time we were able to do it the clean, hardwired way, which is always better when we can.

While we were there, we also upgraded three circuit breakers in the switchboard to RCDs (electrocution protection) — bringing things up to standard and giving the client peace of mind.

Another job at the Flour Mill done clean and properly — we’ve worked on dozens of apartments here and know the quirks of the place better than most. If you’re living in the building and thinking about ceiling fans, RCD upgrades, or extra power points, chances are we’ve already worked in a unit just like yours.
