Zeeker EV Charger Install - Balmain

Graham had recently bought a ZEEKR and wanted to be able to charge it properly at home.

He had been using the portable charger that plugs into a standard 10-amp power point. It worked, but it was painfully slow. Fine for getting by temporarily, but not something you want to depend on every night.

Graham already had the electrical cable run to the garage, so on the surface, the job looked pretty straightforward. Mount the ZEEKER EV CHARGER connect it and get him charging.

Before connecting anything, we checked the existing cable and circuit protection. That’s when we noticed the RCD protecting the circuit wasn’t the correct type for the new charger.

We weren’t going to connect it and pretend everything was fine.

We replaced the existing protection with a correctly rated Type A RCBO, matched to the charger and the cable already installed. Once that was sorted, we mounted the charger, connected everything and carried out the required testing.

We then commissioned the charger and ran Graham through how to use it before we left.

Now he can pull into the garage, plug the ZEEKR in and leave it charging overnight. No more waiting around for a 10-amp portable charger to slowly add a few kilometres at a time.

A fairly straightforward EV Charger Installation. but the inspection beforehand picked up something that could easily have been missed.
